Yvonne Nass Obituary

Yvonne Marie Nass, age 90, of Appleton, Wisconsin, went to her eternal home on February 17, 2024 at Dimensions Senior Living Appleton, WI.  She was born on July 10, 1933, in Laona, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Ernest and Verna (Trombley) Gagnon.    Yvonne married the love of her life, Don Nass, on June 26, 1954, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

Yvonne graduated from the Oshkosh University Business School.  She worked for C.R. Myer as an accountant, as a paraprofessional in the Appleton School District, and as a seamstress.  In her early retirement, she and Deacon Don ministered to the parishioners of St. Stanislaus Langlade and St. James White Lake Catholic Churches.  She and Deacon Don later moved to Redgranite where she was involved with St. Mark Catholic church.  She and Don wintered in the Texas Hill Country.  

Outside of her professional and family life, Yvonne enjoyed walking, sewing, and playing cards.  She will be remembered for her sense of humor and adventure, deep faith, her dedication to her family, and the kindness she shared with all who knew her.

Yvonne will be deeply missed by her husband, Deacon Donald Nass, and their children: Marci Escamilla (Ed), Mark Nass (Kim), Mike Nass (Lisa), and Michelle Griggs (David).  She is survived by her siblings: Blanche Rink (Jack), Thelma Kalinosky, and Gregory Gagnon (Gail), and in-laws Diane (Nass) Steckbauer, Gail Gagnon, and John Rink.  Yvonne was preceded in death by her son, Thomas R. Nass, and by her siblings: Gary Gagnon and Ernest Gagnon Jr.  Yvonne was a loving grandmother to eight grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

A mass of Christian burial will be at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 1617 W. Pine St.  Appleton, WI 54915 on Saturday, February 24th at 11:00 a m with Msgr. John Schuh and Fr. Bob Karuhn presiding.  Friends and family can greet the family on Saturday, February 24th from 9:00 am until the time of the mass at the church.

Yvonne's husband and family would like to thank the caring Staff at Dimensions Living and the memory care unit (Harmony Heights) in Appleton, and Moments Hospice, for their love and the compassionate care given to Yvonne.  We would especially like to acknowledge Robert "Bob" Archer, Life Enrichment and Spiritual Care Director, Missy Van Camp, RN, Director of Nursing, and Tina Miller, CNA, Clinical Staff Coordinator.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Autism Society of Greater Wisconsin – Fox Valley,
