Virginia "Ginny" M. Wurzer

Virginia M. “Ginny” Wurzer, passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2026 at Aspire Senior Living in Kimberly. She was 93 years old. She was born on August 21, 1933 in White Lake, daughter of George and Claudia (Smith) Bricco. She married the love of her life, Edward Wurzer, on June 29, 1957 at St. James Catholic Church, White Lake.

Ginny earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. She began her teaching career at White Lake High School, where she taught home economics for two years, followed by one year of teaching in Cedarburg. After Ginny and Edward relocated to Appleton in 1962, she continued her passion for education at Fox Valley Technical College. She dedicated 30 years to teaching there before retiring in 1997.

Ginny was a charter member of St. Thomas More Parish in Appleton, where her faith and service were an important part of her life. She generously volunteered her time in many ways, including Church Welcoming, the Resurrection Choir, St. Joseph Food Pantry, and St. Vincent de Paul. She also served on several parish committees. Her commitment to helping others reflected her caring nature and strong sense of community.

Beyond her church and professional life, Ginny was active in the Home Economics Association in Appleton and the Homemakers Clubs in Cedarburg and Appleton. She found joy in many simple pleasures. She loved tending to her gardens, growing both beautiful flowers and vegetables, and enjoyed reading, cooking, sewing, and playing the piano.

Above all, Ginny treasured her family. She especially cherished the time she spent with her children and grandchildren, creating memories that will remain with them for generations.

Ginny is survived by her children: Margaret “Peggy” Taylor of Winthrop Harbor, IL, Christopher “Chris” (Joann) of Keshena, Elizabeth “Beth” (Pat) Peeters of De Pere, Gina (Damian) Howard of Omaha, NE, James “Jim” (Sandi) Wurzer of Wichita, KS, and Mary (Sam) Schroeder of Stevens Point; 22 grandchildren: Kevin Jr. (Lindsay) Taylor, Amanda (Dan) Sponenburg, Melissa (Trevor) Cronin, Christine Taylor, Jon Wurzer, Brandon (Melissa) Wurzer, Mardi (Matt) Johnson, Anna (Camden) Eure, Erin (Tyler) Milbrath, Katie (Noah) Bertrand, Becca Peeters, Alexander (Rebecca) Howard, Samuel (Katrina) Howard, Elizabeth Howard, Theresa (Perry) Isbilir, Christopher (Katie) Wurzer, Michael Wurzer, Andrew Wurzer, Katherine (Mac) Foley, Nicole Schroeder, Sophie (Sam) Lawrynk, and Ella Schroeder; and 18 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her sister, Gloria (Shelvie) DeHart of Tigerton; sisters-in-law: Betty Bricco of Polar, Mary “Dolly” Thomas of Lakewood, Theresa “Tessie” (Robert) Schmidt of Melbourne, FL, and Carol Wurzer of Fox Crossing.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Edward Wurzer; her parents; siblings: Richard “Dick” Bricco, Robert Bricco, Betty Cosenza, and Rose Ann “Bunny” Hecker; brothers and sisters-in-law: Henry “Hank” Wurzer, John “Slicker” (Frances) Wurzer; Cyril (Shirley) Wurzer, Eugene “Gene” Wurzer, Vera (Don) Eschenbauch, Marjorie “Margie” (Leonard) Bricco, and Mary (Eugene) Maurer.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 1, 2026 at St. Thomas More Church, 1810 N. McDonald St., Appleton with Fr. Larry Seidl officiating.
