Virginia Kalwitz

Virginia Kalwitz, age 88, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 6, 2024. She was born on December 16, 1935 to the late Lyle Sr. and Esther (Nieft) Baurain in Appleton, WI.

On September 10, 1955 Ginny married Melvin Kalwitz at Bethany Lutheran Church in Appleton and together they raised four children. Ginny was a long time member of Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hortonville. In her spare time, she enjoyed making ceramics, baking, and spending time at the family lake house on Lake Poygan. Ginny cherished her family and especially enjoyed family get togethers and holidays where she was able to create lasting memories with her children and grandchildren baking her famous Christmas cookies.

Virginia is survived by her husband, Melvin Kalwitz; children: Deb (Arnie) Abel, Terrie (Scott) Ohlfs, Larry (Connie) Kalwitz, and Steve Kalwitz; grandchildren: Jen (John) Weber, Matt (Amanda) Abel, Courtney Ohlfs, Nick (Courtney) Kalwitz, MacKenzie (Adam) Strobel, Taylor (Cam Severin) Kalwitz, Blake (Miranda) Kalwitz, and Halle (Joel) Bartels; great grandchildren: Ellie Weber, Natalie Weber, Hunter (Presley) Abel, Jaelyn Abel, Braelee Abel, Jaxson Demeuse, Saylor Kalwitz, Aida Strobel, and one on the way making their debut this Spring. She is further survived by her brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Gerald and Mern Kalwitz.

In addition to her parents, Ginny was preceded in death by her six siblings and in-laws.

A Funeral Service for Ginny will be held on Monday, November 18, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Valley Funeral Home, 2211 N. Richmond St., Appleton. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. and will continue until the time of the service. She will be laid to rest in Appleton’s Highland Memorial Park.
