Vincent Matisko, age 64, of Appleton passed away on Wednesday, December 16th, 2020 at Bethel Home in Oshkosh. He was born in Richmond, Indiana on September 13th, 1956. He discovered his passion for science at an early age, which lead to his career as a food safety microbiologist, a career which took him and his family to Ohio, Illinois, Kansas, and finally Wisconsin for the past 25 years.
He had a deep enthusiasm for cars. From being a spectator, to restoring a Datsun 260 Z which he autocross raced, to driving a NASCAR on the Milwaukee Mile, his passion for racing followed him throughout his life.
He was a proud father, grandfather, husband, and brother whose sense of humor and compassionate spirit uplifted those around him. A compliment he once received was that "He has never met a stranger in his life"; he made friends wherever he went.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Diane of Appleton, his three children; Matthew (Kimberly) of Glendale, Elizabeth (fiance Patrick Davis) of Oshkosh, and Andrew of Milwaukee. He is also survived by his sister Susan of Appleton, two grandchildren; Theodore and Eliza, and his beloved pet cat, Maggie.
The family plans a private family service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice as a tribute to Vince.
