Thomas LeRoy Grether

Thomas Grether, 82, died surrounded by loved ones on January 16, 2023, at Oakridge Gardens nursing center. He was born October 10, 1940, in Logansport, IN, the son of Arthur and Helen (Schell) Grether. Tom graduated from Peru High School, Class of 1959. Following graduation, he served with the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. After his service, he married Kathleen (Heckner) and settled in Wisconsin. They celebrated 57 years of marriage last November. Tom enjoyed riding motorcycles, watching the Packers, and tinkering with tools. He was known for being a loving family man, having a great sense of humor and an endless work ethic. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Kenneth Grether.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Kathleen, are his son Michael (Leslie) Grether and his daughter Stephanie (Michael) Hall, all from Appleton; his grandchildren, Patrick Grether, Eren, Charles, Harmony, Atreyu, and Maxwell Hall.

A service of remembrance will be 11:30am on Saturday, January 21, 2023 with a visitation from 10:30am until the time of service at Valley Funeral Home, 2211 N. Richmond Street, Appleton, WI 54911. After the service, we will gather at a nearby restaurant to share memories and have a lovely meal.
