Short, Theresa D (Griesbach), of Appleton, age 88, passed away peacefully on Thursday February 2, 2023, at her home surrounded by the love of her family. She was born in Mackville, WI on May 31, 1934 to the late Peter C and Mary (Sanderfoot) Griesbach. Therese was the eighth of thirteen children and grew up on the family farm, with a love of animals, especially horses. On July24, 1952 she married Frank E Short, who preceded her in death, in 2003. They farmed on the north side of Appleton, while raising eight children. Family and friends were most important to her. Birthdays, holidays and family reunions were special because it meant get-togethers and opportunities for lots of laughter and hugs. She enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening. Once introduced to camping she was hooked. She talked others into joining in the fun and most of the family is now hooked. She liked canning, sewing, making different types of crafts, playing cards and games. If there was a gathering, we asked which game today? Therese and Frank enjoyed many years of square dancing, including campouts and State and National conventions. They made many lifelong friends. Therese continued to dance over 50 years with their local club, the Romeos and Calicos. She loved costume parties and having silly fun. Therese was a lifetime member of St Edwards in Mackville. She volunteered through the church, with Christian Mothers, scouts and respite care. When she retired, she missed the animals and started caring for sheep.
