Terry Hostettler Obituary

Terry L. Hostettler, age 81, passed away on March 25, 2026. He was born on February 7, 1945, in Appleton, Wisconsin, to the late Oscar and Luella (Matson) Hostettler. He married Susan (La Gesse) on July 20, 1968, and they spent 57 years together.

Terry was a dedicated City of Appleton employee, working in the Water Department for 39 years before retiring in 2005. He proudly served his country in the United States Army Reserve from 1964 to 1970.

Terry was kind to everyone and always had a corny joke to share. He will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and positive attitude.

Terry had a passion for working with youth. He did so in various capacities, coaching for over 20 years with the Appleton Soccer Club and the Appleton Recreation Department. He was the Junior Varsity boys' soccer coach at Appleton West High School. He also refereed youth, high school, college, and adult soccer for several years.

Terry is survived by his wife, Susan; daughter, Nicole (Andy) Brletic, Appleton; three grandchildren: Troy (Brianna), Hillary, and Aaron; three great-granddaughters: Fiona, Kimber, and Sidney, all of Appleton; three sisters: Mardell (Robert) Guelzow, Arizona, Faye (Herbert) Emmel, Michigan, and Phyllis (James) Whetstine, Colorado; two sisters-in-law: Charlotte Millisor, Wisconsin, and Virginia Bruenning, Arizona, as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Terry was preceded in death by his in-laws, Frank and Hildagard La Gesse; three brothers: Jay, Dale, and Rick; niece, Becky Emmel; and nephew, Ronald Wolf.

The family would like to thank Heritage Assisted Living for the loving care they provided to Terry over the last few years.
