In Loving Memory of Tammy M. Kawleski

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tammy M. Kawleski, age 57, on June 9, 2026, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton. Born on April 30, 1969, in Stevens Point to Clifford and Bernie (Tryba) Wojtalewicz, Tammy lived a life marked by strength, resilience, and a love for the people and things that meant the most to her.

For over 30 years, Tammy worked as a dump truck driver throughout the Fox Valley. She wasn’t afraid of hard work and took pride in every mile she drove. Her determination, strong will, and work ethic earned her the respect of many throughout her career. She truly loved what she did in a career that reflected her strong spirit. 

Her greatest love story began at a young age, Tammy often joked that she married Troy, her middle school sweetheart on the school bus while the ceremony may not have been official, the love certainly was. The two were united in marriage on August 4, 1990 and spent more then three decades building a life together filled with love, laughter, challenges and countless memories.

Those who knew Tammy knew how much she enjoyed tending to her flowers, cooking for her family, spending time at the camper, and taking her weekly afternoon rides with her dear friend, Susie. Most recently, many will fondly remember Tammy sitting in her recliner in the garage, keeping an eye on the neighborhood traffic and waving to the countless dump truck drivers who passed by. These simple moments brought her great joy and created many cherished memories filled with laughter, love, and friendship.

Tammy’s dogs, Sitka and Cali, lovingly referred to as “The Girls,” held a special place in her heart. They were loyal companions who brought her comfort, joy, and unconditional love each day. They were always by her side, as a source of peace and strength.  “The Girls” were  impressed by Tammy’s steadily improving throwing arm, always eagerly waiting for the next unpredictable toss. Her family will forever be grateful for the love, comfort, and countless happy moments they provided throughout her most challenging times.

Tammy had a special fondness for eagles and never missed an opportunity to admire one when she saw it. She appreciated their beauty and majesty, and they became one of the many things that brought her joy. Those who knew her will always remember her love for these remarkable birds and the smile they brought to her face.

Above all, Tammy loved her family. Over the years she found her way back to the people who mattered most, building relationships and creating memories that will be treasured forever. She showed those around her that life’s journey is not about being perfect, but about continuing to grow, love, and move forward.

Tammy will be remembered for her hardworking spirit, her loyalty, her sense of humor, and the love she carried for those closest to her. Though her absence leaves an emptiness that can never be filled, her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Tammy is survived by her husband, Troy Kawleski; daughters: Nikki (Shannon) Volkman, Kelsey "Sass" Vande Hei; former son-in-law, Anthony Vande Hei; grandchildren who loving called her Grandma Lucy: Brady, Holdyn, Masyn and Eastyn "Gooby"  Volkman, Brinley, Brantley and Braisley Vande Hei; father, Clifford Wojtalewicz; siblings: Todd and Cyle Wojtalewicz, and Carie (Ben) Zimmermann; father and mother-in-law, Donald and Betty Kawleski; brothers and sisters-in-law: Randy Kawleski, Tammy (Don) Vogel, Tonya (Ponch) Krings; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends; and her dogs, Sitka Ana Beach and Cali Fiona Dreams. She was preceded in death by her mother, Bernie Wojtalewicz.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 18, 2026 at Valley Funeral Home, N1858 Greenville Drive, Greenville. Visitation will take place on Thursday morning at the funeral home from 9:00 am until the time of service. 

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Ascension Cancer Center and the dedicated nurses in the ICU for the compassionate care and support they provided. A special thank you goes to Dr. Abbi, Gail and Cancer Navigator Tami, whose kindness, dedication, and expertise meant so much to Tammy and her family. They were the team she trusted, respected, and relied upon throughout her journey, and their care will never be forgotten.

She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.  Her family will carry forward her simple reminder: “One Day at a Time”
