Shirlee Lantz

Shirlee Lantz, age 94, passed away on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at Living Tree Estates in Greenville. She was born on December 15, 1930 in Batavia, IL to the late Gordon and Edna (Jones) Hazelton. Shirlee was united in marriage to the late Jack Lantz on September 14, 1951.

If you were lucky enough to know Shirlee, you probably have one of her famous knit washcloths. Knitting was her love language, and every stitch carried a little bit of her sass and heart. She loved to walk her dog, Tia. Sundays were sacred – reserved for cheering on her beloved Packers, snacks in hand.  She enjoyed her winters in Florida playing cards, going for golf card rides, and spending time at the pool.  In her younger years, she could be found outdoors, on a snowmobile or “glamping.”

Shirlee believed ice cream was a food group, Cheetos should be eaten without shame, and Kit Kats were a valid breakfast – especially “at her age.” She was fiercely loyal, endlessly funny, and believed in living out loud. She was strong willed, stubborn in the best ways, and never wrong – just ask her, “perfect, perfect, perfect.” Shirlee loved nothing more than to have her family around her and would even organize gatherings at Kusel Lake.

Shirlee is survived by her children: Thomas Lantz, James (Joanne) Lantz, Laura Meyer (Allan Pingel); grandchildren: Shane (Mary Jo) Lantz, Nathan (Erin) Lantz, Ericka Lantz, Kara (Michael) Helser, Kelly Meyer; great grandchildren: Mckenzie, Joseph, Michael, Elijah, Clayton, Carmadie, Kayden, Tenlee, Toby, Vivianna, and Keldon. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, and daughter-in-law, Linda Lantz.

A memorial service will take place at 11:00 am on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at Valley Funeral Home, N1858 Greenville Drive, Greenville. Visitation will take place on Wednesday from 10:00 am until the time of service.
