Sheila M. Schueler

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Sheila M. Schueler, 76, on Friday, July 10, 2026 in Appleton, WI. Sheila was born on August 29, 1949 to the late Donald and Elizabeth (Schmidt) McCarthy. On September 21, 1967 she was united in marriage to Kenneth Schueler in Puerto Rico.  

Sheila was many things to many people, but foremost a mother, wife, daughter, aunt, grandmother, friend and overall “mom” to everyone she met. She worked in many roles throughout the years, including being a bank teller, crafter/painter, administrative assistant, and insurance/financial associate. She was a true partner to her husband.  

Sheila loved the “artsy, fartsy” side of life. She could be found frequenting antique stores and craft stores, creating beautiful decorations for her home and family.  

She suffered through many camping trips with her family raising her children, and was the best friend to her children growing up and into adulthood. Sheila fondly remembered her adventures with her husband traveling in the military, and taking trips to places like Paris….but never experimented with the different foods. She loved to shop, golf, visit casinos, and go to warm, tropical places. She had a passion for history and reading that she passed on to her children. She could frequently be found expanding her knowledge by watching history shows and documentaries.  

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Ken. She is survived by her son Kenneth Schueler, daughter Kerri Schueler, 2 granddaughters Cayla (Chris) Wessley and Evelyn Mielke, 3 great grandchildren Ellarie, Ethan and Emmett, her sisters Cindy (Bill) Nack and Mary (Mark) Olson and brother Kelly (Sue) McCarthy, her boyfriend of many years James Mickelson, along with many friends and family who will sadly miss her. 

There will not be a funeral. A Celebration of Life/Irish Wake will be held for close family and friends at a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to a charity of your choice in Sheila’s name. For online condolences, please visit www.valleyfh.com.
