Selina Vang Her Obituary

Selina K. Vang Her, beloved mother, aunt, sister, and friend, passed away on November 22, 2025, at the age of 46. She was born on July 9, 1979 in Thailand, and throughout her life she touched countless hearts with her warmth, generosity, and unwavering devotion to those she loved.

Selina graduated from the University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh with a bachelor’s degree in Education and later earned her master’s degree in Special Education, also from UW–Oshkosh. She devoted her training and expertise not only to her work, but most importantly to caring for her son, Nicholas. Her education empowered her to advocate for him, support his needs, and ensure he felt deeply understood and loved.

Selina loved nothing more than spending time with her friends and family. She had a gift for making others feel valued and celebrated, showing up to any event—big or small—to offer her support. She delighted in attending gatherings, parties, and community events, always bringing joy, laughter, and her beautiful smile with her.

Above all, Selina was an extraordinary mother. Her son was her world, and she poured her entire heart into nurturing and supporting him. She was also the favorite auntie to her nieces and nephews, who adored her boundless love, enthusiasm, and the special way she made each of them feel unique and cherished.

Despite not being particularly fond of the outdoors, Selina loved camping with her family and friends because it meant creating memories with the people who meant the most to her. Her kindness and generosity were known by all—she was incredibly selfless, always seeking ways to help others. She had a special admiration for missionaries and consistently gave back to those in need.

Creative and artistic by nature, Selina enjoyed ceramics, crafting, crocheting, and making cultural clothing. Her hands were always busy creating something beautiful, and her artistic spirit lives on in the pieces she lovingly made.

Selina’s life was a testament to love, compassion, and devotion. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her legacy of kindness and the memories she created will forever remain in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

Selina is survived by her son, Nicholas Yang, and his father, Steve Yang; siblings: David Her, Chong Yia Vang, Lee Fong Vang, Patrick Vang, Tou Pao Vang, and Yami Sweeney; numerous nieces and nephews across the country and world; as well as countless friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Theng Por Her and Joua Thao; her grandparents; brother, Tong Xeng Vang; as well as two sisters and one brother who passed in their youth.
