Scott VanDyke, Sr. Obituary

Scott VanDyke, Sr. passed away peacefully at Manor Care in Appleton, WI on January 20, 2020, at the age of 58, due to complications of health problems. Scott was born February 20, 1961 in Los Angeles, California to the late Sherwood and Ardyce Ayres VanDyke. He was the youngest of three children. He graduated in 1978 from Palos Verdes High School. He then moved to WI and in 1987 he married Christina Wilson.  Together they had two children.  He  later married Helen Mead and helped raise her 5 children.

When Scott was 15, he started racing super Moto Cross for Mako West.  He raced with some big names such as Bruce Penhall.  He then took a certified welding course and became a certified welder.  After that he took off and went to Parker Arizona and was part of the firefighters dive and rescue team and was the youngest to dive the Colorado River.

Scott enjoyed aviation, playing the guitar and treasured his Harley.  He was a great man who had a great heart and will forever be missed.

Survivors include his sons; Johnathan VanDyke, Ted Tessen, Scott VanDyke, Jr.;  grandson Harker ; sister Gretchen Georgson; brother Allen VanDyke; step children Rita Vaughn, Michael Feltz, Neil Stege, Kelli Frye, D.J. Frye; along with nieces and nephews; other relatives and wonderful friends.

Scott was preceded in death by his parents Sherwood and  Ardyce Ayres VanDyke; grandmothers Judith Ayres and his beloved dogs Merk and Butch.

A celebration of life will be determined at a later time and place. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Manor Care for your care and compassion shown to my dad over the last 2 years and Affinity Visiting Hospice.
