Scott R Schmitz

Scott R. Schmitz, aged 66, passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2024. He was born on August 26, 1958, to Jerome and Gloria (Krueger) Schmitz. Scott's life was a tapestry woven with love and laughter. He found his soulmate in Linda Van Roy, marrying her on June 22, 1979, and together they built a beautiful life. A loyal employee of Miller Electric, Scott dedicated his career to the company, embodying the spirit of hard work and commitment. Known for his playful nature, he had a knack for instigating laughter and sharing a good joke. In 2017, Scott received a pancreas transplant. He had opted to be an organ donor on his driver's license; after his passing, his corneas were donated to help someone in need. He was especially fond of animals, with a particular love for his golden retrievers. The fishing adventures in Canada with his brothers lingered in his heart, cherished moments that echoed the joy of the Iola Car Show, where his love for muscle cars, particularly Shelby Mustangs, truly ignited. Scott treasured the moments spent in nature, particularly watching his dogs frolic freely along the winding trails of the wood.

 He leaves behind his beloved wife, Linda, and their daughters, Amanda Knorr and Ashley (Jake) Janssen. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Jackson and Bryce Knorr, and Jada, Ella, and Dre Janssen. Scott is also survived by his siblings, Debbie (Wayne) Jacob, Dan (Deb) Schmitz, Steve (Erin) Schmitz and Terry (Eldon) Schmidt; mother-in-law Marlene Van Roy; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Adrian (John) Van Roy Jr., Sue Nicolaison, Cindy (Joe) Resch, and Brenda (Todd) Korth; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  Scott was preceded in death by his gram Leona Krueger, who held a special place in his heart; his parents Jerome and Gloria (Krueger) Schmitz; his father-in-law Adrian Van Roy Sr.; a brother David and brother-in-law Bill Nicolaison.  

A memorial service for Scott will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. at the Valley Funeral Home, 2211 N.
