Scott W. Retza peacefully passed away on May 8, 2024, at his home. Born on April 17, 1956, in Appleton to the late Rodney and Loraine (Gunderson) Retza, Scott's life was a testament to love, family, and cherished moments. There is no way to sum up such a life in an obituary, nor do we want to try. He will live on through all of us and is whispering “rock on” from his peaceful place with God.
As a devoted husband and father, Scott found immense joy in the simple but profound moments spent with his loved ones. His grandson, Jackson, held a special place in his heart, and their adventures to Festival Foods were treasured moments in his role as "Papa."
Scott's life was rich with love. He spent his earlier years on great adventures with lifelong friends and was most at peace at home in the company of those same friends, family, neighbors, and his cats in his later years. Weekends were often marked by the comfort of home, accompanied by wine, blasting Pink Floyd, passing out candy at church, and reminding everyone that God is in control. He also enjoyed the excitement of cheering on the Green Bay Packers during football season and attempting to beat us all in fantasy football.
He leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and cherished memories, survived by his loving wife, Linda Retza; children: Alyssa (Brian Vogel) Retza, Jamie (Alex) Hayes, Ryan Retza; grandson, Jackson, and one grandchild on the way; siblings: Norris Bethke, Cynthia Bethke, Bill (Julie) Retza; nieces and nephews: Aaron, Alic, Billy, Michael, Rebekah, Karl; brother-in-law, Frank (Patti) Place; sister-in-law, Julie (Patrick) Cramer; and nieces and nephews: Bryan, Kara, and Joseph. He is also survived by his cat, Lily, who will miss his aggressive, yet loving, pets; and his grand-cats, Minerva and Moose.
