Ruth M. (Montie) Freye

Ruth M. Freye, age 100, formerly of Menasha passed away at her home in Sheldon, IL on Thursday, August 1, 2024.  She was born on September 15, 1923 in Gillett, WI daughter of the late Gust and Esther (Sell) Montie.  On May 4, 1946 she married William Freye, and their marriage was blessed with two daughters and 52 wonderful years before William preceded Ruth in death on November 8, 1999.  She was a teacher in Menasha Schools for many years.  She was a proud member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, where she designed the landscaping, was a lay reader for over 25 years, served on the church council and various committees.  She was a member of the National Association of Retired Teachers, Wisconsin Association of Retired Teachers, Northeastern Wisconsin Orchid Society, American Orchid Society, Fox Valley Wild Ones, Menasha Quarter Century Club (teachers) and Winnebago County Master Gardener.  Ruths kindness and lifelong dedication to teaching and education touched everyone she met. She has spent the last five years traveling the country from Arizona to Illinois and all over the Midwest visiting family and spending time camping and communing with nature while enjoying new adventures.

She is survived by her daughter, Lynn Paloski; grandchildren: Ryan Mc Clintock, Erik (Stephanie), Scott Mc Clintock, Rori Paloski, Brit (Randall) Prazach; 4 great grandchildren, Kaylee, Pria, (Mc Clintock) Ocean and Island (Prazusch).  In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Sandra Freye Garvey, brothers: Harold (Beula) and Robert Montie; sister, Marie (Jerry) Schmalz.

A Funeral Service for Ruth will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Valley Funeral Home (2211 N. Richmond Street, Appleton).  Friends and family will gather at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.  Ruth will then be laid to rest with her husband at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton.
