Russell Harvey Harsch, age 80, of Appleton passed away on October 31st, 2021 after a life-long battle with Crohn’s Disease. Russell was born on January 10th, 1941 to the late Walter and Verna Harsch of Stockbridge, WI
Russell graduated from Stockbridge High School in 1959. He joined the U.S. Air Force after graduation and worked as a jet mechanic, both in the US and overseas. In 1964 he returned to Appleton and began working at Appleton Papers. In July of 1965 he married the love of his life, Peggy. Together they raised a daughter, Tammy and a son, Craig.
Despite Russell’s illness, he managed to continue working throughout and retired from Appleton Papers in 2000 after 36 years there. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and traveling! During his retirement, he and Peggy traveled all over the country in their RV and enjoyed many adventures together!
Russell is survived by his wife Peggy, daughter Tammy (Jim) Hemmen and son Craig (Kari) Harsch along with four grandchildren – Alyssa (Jack) Norris, Cassandra Hemmen, Maxwell Harsch and Grace Harsch. He is also survived by a sister, Joan Buchholtz, many nieces and nephews and his many dear friends of Paradise Park in Harlingen, TX (their winter home).
Russell is preceded in death by his parents, in-laws and a brother-in-law, Marv Buchholtz.
A private gathering will be held on November 13th in his honor.
