Roy Conant, age 86 of Appleton passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 24, 2022. He was born November 4, 1935 to the late Leroy and Laura (Wencel) Conant of Black River Falls, WI. Roy graduated from Black River Falls High School in 1953. He then went to work at Kenosha American Motors building cars for 3 years. In 1956 he came to the Appleton area and worked at Valley Iron Works. He then worked for AAL (now Thrivent Financial) as a maintenance technician until he retired in 1996. He married Delores Schmidt in 1957. Together they raised 11 children: Bonnie Zick, Edward Schmidt, Glen Schmidt, Roger (Vicki) Schmidt, Steven (Sue) Schmidt, Rebecca Prue, James Conant, Gina Beattie, Chriss Weiland, Dale Conant, and Julie Moon. Delores died in 1997; Roy married Ella Henning of Black Creek in 1999. Roy and Ella enjoyed gardening and traveling to many wonderful places together. Roy loved the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. Roy used his passion for hunting and gardening to help feed his large family. He was on the Board of Directors at the Outagamie Conservation Club when the club house and lake were built. Roy is survived by Brother Raymond Conant of Black River Falls, 10 Children, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, and countless friends. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.
On Thursday July 28th, 2022 a visitation will be held from 4pm until 7pm at Valley Funeral Home, N1858 Greenville Dr. Greenville, WI. The following day on Friday July 29th, 2022 a visitation from 3pm until 5pm will be held for Roy follow by a 5pm service.
