Rose Kathleen Schreiter

It is with great sadness that our family announces that Rose Schreiter, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, Oma, aunt and dear friend, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 14, 2020 at the age of 66 in Appleton, Wisconsin.

Rose is survived by her husband, Michael Schreiter. They married November 4th, 1972 and raised 3 sons together: Joseph Schreiter (Christina), Mark Schreiter (Kirsten) and Jason Schreiter; and has a granddaughter: Eden. She is also survived by her sisters, Donna Pelc (Dick) and Verna Herrick and her extended family of in-laws, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and friends.  She is preceded in death by her parents Donald and Betty Olsen; sister, Joyce Goffin; mother-in-law, Delores and Alicia Dorn whom she loved as a daughter.

Rose grew up in Black Creek and went to school in Shiocton. She loved the quiet peace of the outdoors, friends old and new, music, baking for the people she loved and animals. Rose worked for years helping others as a nursing assistant. Her pets – Asia, Snickers, Princess and Lily – already miss her dearly. She had a sparkling presence, a heart of gold, and her sense of humor left smiles literally everywhere she went. (We’re not kidding, even the grocery store.)

Thank you to the devoted healthcare workers at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital for taking care of Rose.

She leaves us with a modest poem of a life well lived:

I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one.

I’d like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done.

I’d like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways,

Of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days.

I’d like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun:

Of happy memories that I leave when life is done.

A memorial service is scheduled at Valley Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 22nd with visitation from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and a brief service to follow.  Please consider donating in her name to any reputable animal rescue or rehabilitation center of your choice.
