Robert "Bob" Deprey Obituary

Robert “Bob” Deprey, age 92, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 21, 2025. Bob was born on August 4, 1933, in Lincoln, WI, the son of Alvin and Virginia (Laurent) Deprey.

A longtime resident of the Algoma and Green Bay area, Bob served the Green Bay Area Public School District for over 30 years as a devoted teacher and principal. His passion for helping students learn and grow left a lasting impression on countless lives and helped shape the community for generations. After retiring, Bob moved to Apache Junction, Arizona and in recent years, returned to Wisconsin, bringing his life full circle back to the state he always called home.

Bob proudly served his country in the United States Army, embodying a spirit of duty and dedication throughout his life.

Outside the classroom, Bob’s greatest joy was music. A gifted trumpet player, he brought energy and joy to every performance, playing in well-known polka bands including those led by Russ Zimmerman and Gene LeBotte, among others. His love for polka music was infectious, and his talent and enthusiasm lit up dance halls and festivals for decades. One of Bob’s proudest memories in life were the years he spent working for the Green Bay Packers on game days.

Bob is survived by his children: Cheryl (Gary) Jansen, David (Doreen) Deprey, Kristi (Chris) Kern, Steve (Karen) Anderson, and Jeff (Kim) Anderson; son-in-law, Mike Nichols; grandchildren: Matthew Jansen, Alex (Callie Herron) Jansen, David M. (Ali Matthews) Deprey, Britney (Alex) Gilson, Kelli (Steve) Davies, Melanie Espinoza, Breanna (Logan) Dalke, Mikey Nichols, Jacob Kern, Brady Kern, Alicia (Michael Odell) Anderson, Aspen (Reid Noble-Hearle) Anderson, Derek Anderson, and Seth Anderson; and four great grandchildren: Asia Espinoza, Madeline and Aubrey Davies, and Eloise Herron Jansen.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Alice Deprey in 1976; second wife, Mary Lou Deprey in 2016; and his daughter, Marsha Nichols in 2025.
