Robert W. Zach, 85, passed away on Friday July 12, 2024.
Born in Beth Israel hospital in Newark, NJ, on December 12,1938 to Helen and Walter Zach. At his death on July 20, 2024, he was 85 years old. Bob had a younger sister Barbara Zach Pellek who pre-deceased him.
Bob as he was lovingly known, graduated from Seton Hall Preparatory in south orange New Jersey in 1956, and graduated from Stevens Institute of Technology in 1960 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and received his Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering in 1967.
He began a career in communications and Electronic engineering and computer science that took him to Europe to design and implement a secure military link of communications throughout the continent. In his role as communications engineer he traveled the world to Europe, Asia, Russian, Africa, and South America. On his return to the U.S.A he designed and implemented the New York City Off Track Betting and Lottery Systems.
Bob, his wife Roxane, and daughter Patricia and soon to be son Christopher lived in Germany and traveled 30,300 miles throughout the continent taking his family as often as possible. They traveled in his prized 1968 Porsche 911L which he purchased new in Mannheim Germany. On his return to the USA with his Porsche he joined the PCA (Porsche Club of America) and won many awards and trophies for his rare Porsche.
Bob was a proud member of the PCA and was looking forward to a 2024 trip tour to the national parks planned by his best friend Aniano Arayo.
Bob had a love for life, Maryland Blue crabs, ham radios, good music, the latest and greatest technology, travel and being with the love of his life Roxane who he spent the last 61 years with.
Bob leaves behind his wife Roxane, four children Patricia Callahan MD (Andy Maracini), Christopher (Alex), Jeffrey, and Alyssa Bartholomew jd (Mark). He also is survived by his 14 grandchildren Dylan, Tara, Cam, Dorothy, Oliver, Madeline, Spencer, Amelia, Isla, Alan, Ginette, Jake, Wesley and Sadie.
He always be loved and missed. Be with God and your other family members until we reunite again.
The funeral mass for Bob will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 11:30 a.m. at St Pius X Catholic Church, 500 W. Marquette St. A time of visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the mass at church.
