Robert R. Pink

The world is a little less bright as we announce the unexpected passing of the glue to our family. Robert “Bob” Pink, beloved husband, father, adored grandfather, brother, and remarkable friend, passed away at home in his sleep Friday, May 26, 2023.

Bob was born on October 31, 1949 to the late Reynold and Josephine (Krosse) Pink. He graduated from Xavier High School (Appleton) and was proud to have been in the Army Reserves for 6 years. Bob worked at Appleton Papers from the age of 18 until retiring as a supervisor 39 1/2 years later. Bob was great at retirement, just not at relaxing. After retirement, Bob started volunteering at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center- Appleton. He loved the workers and he loved helping people. To all that knew him or encountered him during his time there, know he never met an ear that he couldn’t talk off! He was most proud working in the summers when he was able to volunteer with his granddaughter Lexi and was looking forward to volunteering this summer with his granddaughter Taylor. Bob also was a volunteer trishaw driver for a few local nursing homes, he really did love to talk! He also enjoyed traveling, camping, hiking, biking, painting rocks, spending time with friends, and his new obsession was pickleball, which he thought we all needed to take up.

Bob is survived by the love of his life Catherine (Wheaton) to whom he’s been married 52 years,   together they raised two wonderful children, their son Brian (Laura) Pink, and daughter Stacy (Dino) Valeri. He is survived by his grandchildren that were by far his pride and joy: Gage Valeri, Lexi Valeri, Riley Pink, and Taylor Pink. Bob is further survived by his sister Sandra (Bruce) Witter, brother Richard Pink, many sister’s-in-law, brother’s-in-law, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his sister-in-law Linda Pink.

A Funeral Service will be officiated for Bob at 5:30 PM on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at Valley Funeral Home,  2211 N. Richmond St., Appleton, WI 54911 by Rev. Mr. Lincoln Wood.  Family and friends may visit at the funeral home from 2:30 PM to the time of the service.    The funeral service will be live streamed on The Valley Funeral Home Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/valleyfh

Bob was an extraordinary man with a penchant for a good bourbon and whose laugh we will never forget. He cherished all those he knew and loved. Please know that he and his family appreciate everything you meant to him. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to your favorite charity or volunteer as Bob would do. He truly lived every one of his 73 years with energy, zest, and enthusiasm. He would want you to remember and celebrate the great times you shared together.
