Robert E. Gass

Robert Eugene Gass was born on August 2, 1966, to Orville and Lois (Bellin) Gass in Appleton, Wisconsin.  He was baptized into the Christian faith on August 14, 1966, at Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church of Menasha.   He was confirmed in the Lutheran Christian Faith at Bethel of Menasha on April 24, 1983.   Robert was the proud father of one daughter, Samantha.  

Robert worked at various businesses in the Appleton area.   In his younger years, he worked at Trimberger’s restaurant in Appleton and Old Wisconsin in Sheboygan.  He spent a number of years as driver/salesman for Quaker Bakery.   He also was a salesman for New Mark.  He was a driver for US Venture.  For the past 8 years he worked at Lipari.   Robert enjoyed watching the Packers and he very much enjoyed the banter with his Viking nephews.   Robert was a longtime member of Mt. Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church and then more recently of Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church of Appleton.

Robert is survived by his daughter, Samantha and fiancé Nick, his brothers:  David (Cheryl) Gass of Sheboygan, Mark (Jane) Gass of Tomahawk, his sister: Barb Oachs of Burnsville, Minnesota as well as his significant other of seven years, Bonnie Ballering.  He also survived by 10 nieces and nephews.   Robert was preceded in death by his parents, grandmother Helen Bellin, brother-in-law Brad Oachs, sister-in-law Kris Gass.

After suffering from an aneurysm many years ago, Robert struggled with health issues.   On Saturday morning, February 22, 2025, Robert experienced chest pains and respiratory distress which led him to the emergency room.  While the staff were attending to him, Robert experienced a heart attack.   Even though the medical personal tried mightily to revive him, God had already sent his angels to carry his soul to his eternal peace.   Ever since his baptism 58 years ago, God had promised Robert his place in heaven – a promise now fulfilled.  Robert now lives in the glory of Jesus with all his loved ones.  

Funeral service for Robert Gass will be Thursday, February 27 at 11 am at Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church in Appleton, Wisconsin.  Visitation will occur from 9-11 am. Interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery at 1:15 pm.

Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord.  Yes, they will rest from their labors.
