Robert Leo Francis

Robert L. Francis, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend passed away peacefully at Oak Park Place in Menasha on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at the age of 94. He was born to the late Louis and Claire Francis on June 13, 1930 in Oconto, WI. Bob married the love of his life, Jean Thyssen, on September 3rd, 1955 in West DePere, WI. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean conflict. Bob retired from Appleton Papers, where he made many lifelong friends. He enjoyed traveling, spending time up north, fishing and an occasional trip to the casino. He was an avid Brewers and Packers fan, never missing a game on television. Bob always had a good joke to tell. He also made sure the candy bar drawer was always full for visitors.

Bob is survived by his wife of 69 years, Jean; children: Robert (Patti) Francis, Shawano; Patricia (Arthur) Hameister, Appleton; Sharon Francis, Carol Stream, IL; grandchildren: Jared Francis (fiancé Ann Stiles), Matthew Hameister, Michelle (Kevin) LeBeau, Andrew (Cori) Hameister, Danielle (Ryan) Murphy, Samantha Wisnasky; great grandchildren: Christian, Grace, Claire, Micah, Caden, Shaylin, Bennett, Allie, Audrey, Cris, Adrian and Ruby. He is also survived by a brother, Harry. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his siblings, Art, Doris, Alice, Rosie, Mary and Gladys.

Funeral Services for Robert will be held on Friday, October 4, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. at Valley Funeral Home (2211 N. Richmond St., Appleton).  Friends will be received at the funeral home from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service.  Military Honors will be performed immediately following the funeral ceremony.  Entombment will be in the Star of Hope Mausoleum at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
