Richard M. Galster, 75 of Appleton, WI (formerly of Black River Falls) passed away unexpectedly on August 12, 2026.
Richard was born on March 23, 1951, to Harold and Evelyn (Woof) Galster in Black River Falls, WI. Richard graduated from Parkview High School in Orfordville, WI in 1969. Richard was a 30+ year veteran in law enforcement serving the City of Black River Falls Police Department, Jackson County Sheriff’s Department as a deputy and Sheriff, he also served 1 year in Bosnia as an International Police Officer.
Richard enjoyed woodworking, music by Willie Nelson and the Highwaymen as well as reading western novels, and his favorite author was Louis L’Amour.
Richard is survived by his wife, Shirley; his son, Garet (Melissa) Galster; his stepdaughter, Tina (Robert) Olson; and his stepson, Jeff Olson. Four grandchildren Ella, Quinn, Leo and Greta Galster, 2 step-grandchildren, Andrew and Leah Olson. Two sisters, Sharon and Charlene.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Evelyn, Brother Raymond, Sister’s Nancy and Norma.
Per Richards wishes a private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
