Richard J. Dachelet

Richard J. Dachelet, 82, passed away after a long and fulfilling life on Monday, May 26, 2025. Richard was born on May 19, 1943 to John and Josephine (Foeler) Dachelet.  

Richard grew up loving the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, diving, playing cards and he loved having a dog. He also was a veteran having served in the US Army. 

On September 9, 1989 he was united in marriage to Sami (Irene) Kuehni (Horounziak). He was a loving and devoted step-father and grandfather to her children/grand children. Richard was always there to teach them anything, from how to ski or how to play chess. He always had his chess or cribbage board ready for when they came by. 

Richard worked at American Can until he retired as a graphic designer. 

Richard is survived by his wife Sami, 4 step-children; Peggy (Terry) Key, Barb (Kenyan) Lewis, Bonnie Schuster and Greg Kuehni, 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Also survived by his siblings Ann Luther (Lester), Robert Dachelet (Christy),  Marie Wurdinger (Bud), Jim Dachelet (Chris), Thomas Dachelet (Alison), Patty Ulman (Louis), Debra Andres (Jake) and many nieces and nephews. 

He is preceded in death by his parents John and Josephine Dachelet, his brothers John Dachelet   

The celebration of life for Richard will be on Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at the Valley Funeral Home, 2211 N. Richmond St, Appleton. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm with a funeral service at 3:00 pm.
