Obituary

Reg Reinke, age 94, of Greenville, WI, passed away Sunday April 30th, 2023.

He was born November 11, 1928 in Appleton, WI to the late Reginald and Louise (Dumke) Reinke.  Reg served 28 years as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force and Reserves. While in the Reserves, Reg was Liaison Officer at the Air Force Academy.  In this position he counseled ROTC candidates. He retired as a Lieutenant Col.

Reg later worked for Appleton Papers for 24 years, leaving there to become President of APCO Credit Union until its merger with Fox Communities CU.  Reg was very active in the Credit Union movement in the state and was on the governor's board. He continued his engagement in the credit union agencies through the Northside Business Association for many years.

He married Betty (Gregorius) Gaschler on May 25, 1985. Reg retired in 1990, spending most of his retirement years at his cottage in the Athelstane area while also retaining a home in Appleton with Betty. In 2012, they moved to Greenville to be closer to Betty's family.

Reg had a love of building. His favorite items to build were radio controlled planes, wood working projects, kayaks and most recently a sailboat.  He was great at DIY for almost anything. He spent many hours on the computer watching video after video on just about any topic, though cooking videos were a favorite.

Reg is survived by his wife, Betty; daughter, Marcia Borchardt; granddaughter, Andrea Borchardt; sons, Brian and Brad Reinke; step-daughters, Michelle (Russ) Henry and Jennifer (Frank) Calabrese; step-granddaughters, Amber (Robert) Lauer, Autumn (Travis) Gill and Mikayla Henry; step-great grandchildren, Bert, Leland, Cora and  Elise Lauer;  brother-in-law, Harry VanGrinsven; many other family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his parents-in-law; siblings, Marge VanGrinsven and Leo; stepson, Tony Gaschler; and step-great grandson, Joseph Lauer.

No services will be held per Reg’s request.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Moments Hospice team.  “They are angels among us, especially Reg’s “girls:” Linda, Mickey, Sophia and Erin.”
