Ralph R. Goffard, age 78 of Appleton, WI, passed away on Tuesday morning, November 7, 2023 at ThedaCare in Neenah, WI. He was born on April 2, 1945, the son of the late Wilbert and Loretta (Wicker) Goffard. On June 26, 1965, he was united in marriage to Helen Mullen.
Ralph attended the Fox Valley Technical College to become a pipefitter for the Operating Engineers Local #148. He was a super hardworking and loyal pipefitter, who worked at the American Can Company at the Menasha Plant for 43 years. He enjoyed being involved in Boy Scout Troop 106 and Troop 67. He umpired girl’s softball, bowled with his men’s league, was a member of the St. Edwards Parish board and enjoyed gardening. He loved taking his wife out on Fridays for a good fish fry, playing cards and laughing with the men’s card club. Among his many passions, he loved to camp, canoe, hunt and fish in the great outdoors. But most of all, Ralph loved to spend time with his family especially the grandchildren. He will be remembered as a gentle soul with a big heart and even larger sweet tooth.
Ralph is survived by his loving wife, of 58 years, Helen Goffard and their children; Diane (Kurt) Heid, Laurie Goffard (Daughter In Law), Dan (Kimberly) Goffard, Carrie (Tom) Poppy and Mark (Mindy) Goffard; grandchildren: Brett (Dana) Poppy, Brandon Poppy, Casey (Tiffany)Heid, Shane (Torie) Heid, Ashley (Dan) Brown, Alissa (Cody) Swinkles, Sean (MaKayla) Goffard, Alec Goffard, Ryan Goffard, Bryce Poppy, Mitchell Goffard, Walker Goffard, Hailie Poppy and Gregory Goffard; 8 great grandchildren; 5 god children Ryan Goffard, Craig Mullen, Kenneth Goffard, Sue Gilson and Todd VerCauteren; one brother Clayton (Cathy) Goffard; one sister Mary (Norb) Verboomen.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Mike Goffard, two brothers Joseph and Larry Goffard; his mother and father-in-law Emmet and Lucille Mullens; 2 sisters-in-law Janice and Linda Mullen; and 5 brothers-in-law, Norb, John and Jerry Mullen, Tom Raasch, and Ron LeMere.
The mass of Christian burial will be on Friday, November 10, 2023 at Noon St. Edward’s Catholic Church in Mackville with Father Robert Chinnapan presiding. Burial will be in the St. Edward’s Cemetery in Mackville.
Family will greet family and friends on Friday, Nov. 10th from 10:00 am until the time of services at the church.
