Phyllis “Gobby” Mocarski, age 88, passed away into the loving arms of Jesus on April 26, 2025. She was born August 13, 1936, in Wisconsin Rapids, WI, the daughter of Benno and Frances Armstrong Gleue.
Phyllis graduated from Wisconsin Rapids High School in 1954. Phyllis married Milton D. Schierland in 1955. They lived in Wisconsin Rapids and had six children. She then married Stan Mocarski in 1966. Together, they lived in Milwaukee before moving to Kaukauna, Wisconsin. In addition to caring for her family, she loved working and had many jobs, including banker, hair stylist, store manager, popcorn wagon owner, and school bus driver.
Gobby loved the Lord, first and foremost. She was a member of Calvary Chapel for many years and was instrumental in starting a ministry of hospitality serving women in the church. Gobby read the Bible daily and loved to attend Bible studies and discuss the importance of Jesus in people’s lives. Gobby will be remembered for many things: her smile, she was a beautiful lady; her great sense of humor; her love of all people; her creativity in cooking and baking, gardening, entertaining, and decorating. She loved to sew for her family and friends, gifting everyone with homemade blankets and memorable items. Until her final hours, Gobby was filled with love for her family and gratitude for her many blessings.
Gobby will be dearly missed by her children; Mitch (Melissa ) Schierland, Keri Hehli, Linda, Paul and Pauline Schierland, grandchildren: Khara, Briana, Marissa, Karley, Josh, Misty, Jamus, Brandie, Bailey, Ian;16 great grandchildren: Paige, Payten, Evan, Mason, Destiny, Kason, Rowan, Freyja, Adeline, Ella, Jude, Desmond, Lennon, Trey, Brody, Grace, and one great great grandchild, Mateo, two sisters; Marlene Zachman and Mary Healy, several nieces, nephew and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Stan, son Robert Schierland and sister Nancy Gleue.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, May 5, 2025, at the Valley Funeral Home, Appleton, Wisconsin, Pastor Dwight Douville officiating. The burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Appleton, Wisconsin.
