Paul A. Schmidt., 62 of Appleton,WI passed away Thursday, April 15th, 2021 in Appleton surrounded by family. Paul was born March 3, 1959 in Appleton, WI the son of the late Birger Edson Schmidt and Virginia Mae (Brahan) Schmidt.
Paul was a 1977 graduate of Appleton West High School and 2 years later met the love of his life, Cynthia S. Hull. They married November 24th, 1980, officially, at the courthouse of Outagamie County, and married again July 11th, 1981 at St Bernard’s Church in Appleton.
They were together for 41 years.
Paul was an extraordinary tradesman, whose knowledge, talent and skill can be seen around the State of Wisconsin, the country, and around the world. Paul worked for L3 ESSCO Inc, where he was part of a team that build radomes around the globe. He loved to share his travel stories and pictures from the most remarkable places such as Norway, Guam, Australia, and Egypt to list a few. Paul’s character can be summed up in a short story he once shared, when he gave an extra pair of sandals to a man in Egypt who was barefoot. He was humbled by the man thanking him and addressed him as “Mr. Paul”.
Paul was then a Glazier and a member of The International Union of Painters and Allied Trades District Council 7 Local Union 1204.
Paul recently worked for HJ Martin and Son and was proud of his work on the Secura Building in Appleton.
Paul was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish, deer hunt, boat, and barefoot/waterski.
He loved to grill and not even a January Wisconsin blizzard would stop him.
His sanctuary was time up north on Boulder Lake with family and friends.
Paul will be sadly and greatly missed by his wife Cindy and his two daughters, Kymberly (Clifford) Diedrick of La Selva Beach, CA and Brittany Schmidt of Appleton. Grand-dogs, Monkey, Appleton and Stella and Louie, La Selva Beach,CA.
He is survived by his siblings: Patricia and Micheal Hulke, Appleton; Robert and Judith Schmidt, Appleton; Sandra Debruin, Appleton; James and Brenda Schmidt, Kaukauna; William Schmidt, Eau Claire, Elizabeth and James Van Bommel, Fond du Lac; Joseph and Bethlehem Schmidt, Lakewood, CO; Donald and Heather, Aurora, CO; Randall Schmidt, Appleton. Father and Mother-in-law Roger and Kathleen Hull, Appleton; Brother and Sister-in-law, Charles and Kelly Hull, Appleton; and sister-in-law Lori Hull, Appleton. Also his many nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother-in-law, Maurie DeBruin.
The family would like to extend an extra special thank you to the Nurses and Doctors at the Thedacare Cancer Center, Thedacare Regional Medical Center in Appleton, and Froedtert Hospital. Their care during this unprecedented time through a pandemic was harmonious and outstanding.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
