Paul N. Schilcher

Paul Norman Schilcher, age 69 of Appleton, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 10, 2023 in his sleep. He was born on June 12, 1953 to Emilye (Courtney, Schilcher, Brumbaugh) and the late Alvin Schilcher. Paul was an avid collector of books, cartoon memorabilia and Fontanini figurines. He enjoyed old TV shows, especially Westerns and listened to music that inspired him. He cared for animals of all kinds and enjoyed feeding and watching birds and animals near his window. Paul was a smart, witty, and funny conversationalist. He often had caring conversations with his family that were also quite lively at times. As a younger man, he found that physical fitness was important, until his health declined. He had belonged to a gym, bicycled, worked out and lifted weights regularly. Paul found his faith important as well, declaring himself a Christian man. He enjoyed traveling and camping in Colorado and had quite a sense of adventure. He had a love of M&M’s, coffee flavored yogurt and his family and friends. Paul loved his daughter, Sonya, his mother, sisters, and brothers with a passion. Paul always looked to his older brother, Jim for advice.

He is survived by his daughter, Sonya (Matt) Ropson, mom, Emilye Brumbaugh, sisters; Chris (Mike Suess) Wadzinski and Sally (Craig Smith) Hugley, brothers; Tom (Lisa) Schilcher and Patrick (Jen) Schilcher, and sister in law, Carol Schilcher. Paul is further survived by many special nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death are his father, Alvin, brothers: Jim Schilcher and Charles Schilcher.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 (noon) on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at Valley Funeral Home, 2211 N Richmond St., Appleton. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home beginning at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers and other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund is being established.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to everyone at Brewster Village, Rosewood unit for the wonderful care given to Paul during his stay there.
