Obituary

Paul Alan Harwood, 78, of Appleton passed away unexpectedly on August 28, 2023, at UW Health University Hospital, Madison.  He was born on October12, 1944, in Appleton to the late Carson and Janet (VandenBush) Harwood.  He served his country in the United States Navy as an electronics specialist from 1965-1969.  While he was stationed in the Philippines, he met and married Magdalena Fulgueras, and they welcomed their first son, Paul Jr.  After Paul’s honorable discharge, he returned to the Fox Valley, and he and his wife welcomed their second son, Michael.  During this time, Paul started his electronics repair business, H & H TV. 

On February 12, 1994, Paul married Sharon Roehrborn, and they were able to enjoy 29 years together.  They traveled in their RV across the United States and enjoyed spending time in the outdoors.  Biking was a huge part of their lives.  Paul even rode his bike across the State of Wisconsin.  His varied interests were photography, collecting and identifying rocks, watching the Packers, and taking long day trips driving around Wisconsin.  Paul’s greatest love was his grandchildren and spending time with his family.

Paul is survived by his wife, Sharon; sons, Paul (Kathie) Harwood and Michael (Michelle) Harwood; stepson, Robert (Karen Holcomb) Roehrborn; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Breanne), Steven (Stephanie), Paige, Alisha (Casey), Samantha (Forrest), Morgan, Carson, and Sophia; great-grandchildren, Erika, James, Brystol, Judson, Ainsley, and Hallie; sisters, Ann Nienhaus and Barbara Fulcer, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death are his parents, sister, Elizabeth Wolff, and brother-in-law, Chuck Fulcer.

Family and friends may visit on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, from 9:00 am at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 1617 W. Pine St., Appleton.  A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 am, and military honors will follow the Mass at church.  Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Appleton, at 2:30 pm.  In lieu of flowers or other expressions of sympathy, memorials in Paul’s name can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or St. Bernard Catholic Church.
