Patrick “Stumpy” Woods, age 66, of Hortonville, passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2026. He was born on May 19, 1959 to the late Earl and Marie (Stoop) Woods.
Stumpy spent 35 years as a skilled heavy equipment operator, a career he took great pride in along with being a longtime member of the Local 139. His commitment to his craft and his colleagues was evident throughout his career, retiring in 2016. Outside of work, Patrick found his greatest joys in the outdoors and in the company of those he loved. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, always happiest surrounded by nature. Stumpy was also a devoted sports fan. He rarely missed a chance to cheer on the Milwaukee Brewers, followed the excitement of NASCAR, and enjoyed sharing those moments with family and friends. He will be deeply missed by many.
Stumpy is survived by his significant other of 35 years, Cheryl Schultz; children: Mike (Nicole) Schultz, Eric (Brooke) Schultz, and Heidi (Chris) Meyer; grandchildren: Devon, Bryce, Hailey, Ethan (Heidi), Elizabeth, Emmett, Jaidyn and Charlotte; sisters: Mary (Phillip) Endter, Margie (F. Patrick) Cousineau, Bonnie (Marv) Dorschner; brothers: Steven (Faye) Woods, Michael (Theresa) Woods; sister-in-law, Jodi Woods; as well as several aunts, nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents; brother, John “Jack” Woods; and niece, Holly Degal (Dorschner).
A Celebration of Life for Stumpy will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at the Hortonville Commercial Club Park, 315 N. Oak St., Hortonville from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. For online condolences, please visit www.valleyfh.com.
