Our Dear Mother Patricia Ann Rogney, age 92, Appleton, was called to her heavenly home on March 20, 2025.
Pat was born the 10th of 14 children to the late Frank and Coletta Rau on December 14, 1932 on the family farm in Hewitt, Wisconsin.
After graduating from Auburndale High School, Class of “51” she married her High School sweetheart Roger Rogney on May 31, 1954 at St. Johns Catholic Church, Marshfield. They were married 64 years until his death in 2018.
Pat and Roger moved to Appleton in 1956 where they built and made their forever home on Casaloma Drive raising six children.
Our Mom was a loving stay at home mom volunteering her time within the schools her children attended. She also did clerical work for Equity Co-op. When her youngest child entered first grade she re-entered the work force outside her home as a admitting clerk with Appleton Medical Center, a career she was really proud of, and officially retired after 32 years.
While raising her children Mom found time to socialize with her neighborhood friends and together they formed their own group called the “Homemakers.” She also travelled by coach bus all over the United States with a few of her sisters and in-laws. The greatest trip of all was a trip to Hawaii with her husband Roger.
Pat enjoyed sewing, growing beds of beautiful flowers and going to auctions to collect things to keep as her own “treasures” to add character to her home. Most importantly she loved spending time at their cottage on Trump Lake, then a cottage on Cloverleaf Lakes in Clintonville. She cherished her time at the cottage with her family, especially the annual Fourth of July celebration.
Pat was a very smiley, friendly, welcoming person. If you knew her, you loved her. She will be missed by her six surviving children:
Kathy (Lee) VanZeeland, Gary Rogney, Dan (Jayne) Rogney, Karen (Rob) Hiti, Marilyn (Brian) Meyer and Brenda (Pat) Young: her 13 grandchildren, Tom, Nick, Rachel, Melissa, Marc, Michael, Jennifer,Tricia, Amanda, Travis, Natalie, Brett , Bennett and 15 great grandchildren.
Three surviving siblings include: Rita (John) Fischer, Doug Rau, Betty Beck and In-Laws Ruthie Rau, Ron & Lois Rogney and Cletus Rogney.
She was preceded in death by her husband Roger, her parents, and 10 siblings: Doris, Clem, Eugene, Larry, Millie, Jim, Toots, Marian, Clarence, and Leroy along with several in-laws, Orin Droste and their beloved dog, Queenie.
Our Mom prayed the rosary every day for her faith were very important to her. She was proud to say that she was a charter member of St. Bernards Catholic Church where she starts her journey home.
