Patricia Jean (McCarthy) Treiber

Patricia Jean Treiber, age 79, of Appleton passed away on Monday, June 17, 2024.  She was born on October 2, 1944 in Appleton, daughter of the late Emmett and Ardell McCarthy.  Patricia was a graduate of Appleton West High School, and shortly afterwards she married Robert “Bob” Treiber.  Pat and Bob were each others’ best friend traveling and enjoying their lake home in Eagle River.  Bob preceded her in death in 2013.  The couple loved to travel out west.  They made several road trips to Alaska.  Pat also enjoyed sewing, quilting, and making award winning pies.  

She will be sadly missed by her dog Maggie and her daughters: Shawn Van Gompel, Waupaca; Kay Treiber, Greenville; granddaughters: Amanda Kohel and Gabrielle (Bryan Strobusch) Van Gompel; her great-grandchildren: Hailey, Daniel, Claire, Nash and Knox and brother/sisters.

Mom - I am so blessed to have helped care for you and hold your hand to the end.  At the end of your life we shared some laughing moments I will never forget. I appreciated your vulnerability and ability to share your tears.  May I always remember your words during our outing to the lake house.  The words I am sorry rarely came out of your mouth so when they did I heard you.  You are free now sorry I couldn’t bust you out more.  Love Shawn

A Celebration of Pat’s life will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. at Valley Funeral Home (2211 N. Richmond St., Appleton).  Friends will be received at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service.
