Olive Lorraine Lecker (nee Herman), age 94, was called by Jesus to her heavenly home on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center-Appleton with her family at her side. She was born on February 18, 1927 in Black Creek, WI to Harvey and Lydia Herman. Olive became a child of God at her baptism on April 3, 1927. She later renewed her faith on her confirmation day in March 1940.
Olive married Earl Lecker on April 19, 1947. Together they farmed and raised a large family. Olive was an excellent seamstress and also loved to crochet. She joyfully tended to her garden and many flowers over the years. She and Earl were members at St. Paul Lutheran Church with their eight children. Together they served the church and school faithfully and then devoted much volunteer service to Fox Valley Lutheran High School as their children and grandchildren grew.
Olive leaves the following to hope in the certainty of the resurrection to eternal life and a blessed reunion in heaven: daughters, Diane (Douglas) Enter, Appleton; Susan (John) Gossens, Little Chute; Patricia Hoogervorst, Neenah; Joanne (Kevin) Hietpas, Fairfield, IA; sons, William (Kris), Appleton; Steven (Amy), Greenville; John (Cindy), Greenville; David (Penny), Fond du Lac; a sister, Carol Moes, Seymour; a sister-in-law Nora Herman, Black Creek; 27 grandchildren, and 51 great grandchildren.
Olive was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Earl; a daughter, Barbara; a great grandson Brooks Abel; her sisters, Joyce Timm and Eunice Springstroh; and brothers, Leslie Herman and Orville Herman.
Olive’s Christian life will be celebrated at a 10:00 am memorial service on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at St. Paul Lutheran Church Appleton, Wisconsin. Memorials may be directed to the St. Paul Church Radio Broadcast Fund. Her mortal remains will be laid to rest at Highland Memorial Park Appleton, Wisconsin awaiting the call of our Lord Jesus Christ on the great day of his return when her soul will be reunited with a glorified body to join the saints triumphant.
The family would like to thank the staff/doctors on the sixth floor of ThedaCare Regional Medical Center-Appleton and the staff of ThedaCare Hospice for the compassionate care given to Olive during the last days of her life.
