With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of a woman whose vibrant spirit, quick wit, and loving heart left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her. Nancy C. Wearing, age 81, passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2026 at ThedaCare Regional medical Center in Appleton. She was born on September 22, 1944 in Milwaukee to the late Harry and Michaeline (Buska) Stocki.
Nancy lived life with a little sass, a lot of laughter, and never passed up an opportunity to have fun. Whether she was trying her luck at the casino, playing bingo, or hunting for hidden treasures at rummage sales, she found joy in the simple pleasures that made life exciting.
Many will remember her smiling face and feisty personality from her years as a waitress at Papa’s Café and Koni K’s Café. She had a special way of making customers feel like family, serving every meal with a warm smile, playful banter, and genuine care. The friendships she built over the years were among her greatest treasures.
Above all else, Nancy’s greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren. Time spent together sharing stories, laughs, celebrations, and everyday moments that filled her heart in ways nothing else could. They were her pride, her happiness, and the legacy she cherished most.
In 2023, she faced one of life’s greatest challenges with incredible courage, defeating both uterine and cellular cancer. Her determination and resilience inspired those around her and reflected the strength that had carried her through every chapter of her life.
Nancy is survived by her children: Tony (Mary) Spath, Cindy (Bobby) Brigham, Tracey Albers; grandchildren: Jacob (Hailey) Spath, Blaise (Elizabeth Brandes) Spath, Emma Spath, Ramsey Brigham, Reilly (Kaelyn) Brigham, Braedy (Jason) Fisher, Cody (Holly) Jernanderson, Brettlee (Chris) Holte, Collin Brigham, Alex Sherkoff, Stephan (Katie) Albers; sister, Judy (Bruce) Reeves; former spouse, Duane Spath (Sharon Gamm); and numerous great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was further preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Grumpy” Wearing.
Per Nancy’s wishes, no formal services will be held.
Nancy will be remembered for her sharp sense of humor, her generous heart, her unwavering resilience, and the unforgettable spark that made her uniquely herself. Though she will be deeply missed, her laughter, love, and sassy spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and everyone lucky enough to have shared in her journey.
