Michael J. Johnson

Michael J. Johnson, age 68, passed away surrounded by family on Friday, July 19, 2024 at Cherry Meadows in Appleton. He was born on July 30, 1955 in De Pere to James and Dorothy (Blackburn) Johnson. Mike was united in marriage to Nancy in October 2000 in Weyauwega.

Mike owned and operated MJ Construction in Oneida and later in Weyauwega building homes, log homes, and some commercial buildings. When he could no longer do construction work, he drove school bus for Weyauwega/Freemont Schools. In retirement, Mike moved to Greenville. He always enjoyed driving his Kabota and talking to people in the neighborhood. Mike liked building things and helping young people. Mike loved spending time with his cats.

Mike is survived by his wife, Nancy Winter; mother, Dorothy Johnson; brother, Rick (Leanne) Johnson; sister, Barb (Jeff) Kroll; nieces: Michelle Nockerts and Richelle Kroll; and nephews: Erik Nockerts, James (Shannon) Johnson, and Paul Johnson. He was preceded in death by his father, James Johnson.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, July 26, 2024, at Christus Lutheran Church, N1915 Julius Dr, Greenville. Visitation will take place at the church on Friday from 9:00 am until the time of service.

The family would like to thank the staff at Cherry Meadows Inpatient Hospice for all the care and compassion given to Mike.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Mike’s name to Peabody Heritage Fund – Cherry Meadows.
