Mary E. Turner

Mary Elizabeth Turner – Bergman, 81, of Richland Center, WI, passed away on March 4, 2026, in Appleton WI. Mary was born in Richland Center to George and Sadie Griffin on July 18, 1944. She attended Richland Center High School and went on to earn multiple degrees to include a Masters of Divinity, BA in Music, BS in Christian Education, and a nursing degree with licensure as an RN. Mary spent her life in service to others; from her time as a 4-H leader, her work in suicide prevention, and nursing Mary was focused on giving back. She was active in her church, loved to play the organ on Sunday mornings, and was blessed to have her own congregation in Waggoner IL. After her retirement from the church in Waggoner Mary returned to Richland Center and became the Coroner for Richland County. She met and married Clyde Bergman in 2011 and spent her retirement enjoying time with family and traveling around the country with her husband.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, George and Sadie; first husband, Duwayne Turner; sisters, Alberta, Carol, and Cora; brother, Kenny; and her stepson, Matthew Bergman. She is survived by her loving husband, Clyde Bergman; sister, Georgia (Mike) Manning; daughters: Rachel (Charles) Costello nee Turner of Ohio and Kristy Bergman of Appleton; sons: Seth Turner of Ohio, Andrew (Shanna) Turner of Arkansas, Timothy (Crystal) Bergman of Appleton, Daniel (Holly) Bergman of North Carolina. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, seven grandchildren: Cierra, Brand, Cassie, Lucas, Caitlyn, MyKena (Jackson) Wells nee Turner, and Maggie and one great grandchild, Ezra.

Burial will be in the Richland Center Cemetery, with a memorial officiated by Ron Fruit. Information about the date, time, and place will be forthcoming. Mary asked that memorials be made to the Pine Valley Foundation and GRACE.
