Mary Fuss Obituary

Mary Jane Fuss passed away in her Appleton home on August 27, 2024.

Born December 11, 1942 in the Town of Cicero, Mary was the eldest child of Melvin and Edith (Nieuwenhuis) Fuss. Mary spent the majority of her childhood farming with her parents in the Nichols & Shiocton area. After graduating from Shiocton High School, Mary spent the majority of her working years at Zwicker Knitting Mills as a tow lift operator, and later retired from Fleet Farm. Mary and her mother moved to Appleton in 1976, where she resided until her passing.

Growing up on the farm, Mary loved everything about the outdoors and was an avid fisher and hunter of deer & small game (duck, pheasant, squirrel, rabbit). Some of her fondest & most cherished memories were of times spent with her parents on the farm, or getting into mischief in the woods with her brother and sister.

Mary enjoyed going to the casino with her mom & sister, traveling, playing cards, and taking annual summer trips with family to the cottage at Pelican Lake. Mary enjoyed baseball & football and loved watching her Dodgers & Chicago Bears games on TV.

Mary was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, and aunt and was especially active in the lives of her nieces and nephews. She taught them how to fish and hunt, and never missed a birthday, graduation, wedding, holiday, or special event, creating life-long memories that will be forever cherished.

Mary is survived by two nieces, Robin Miller, Pence, WI; Angela (Mike) Forry, Appleton; two nephews, Christopher (Theresa) Herman, Venice, FL; and Mark (Teri) Herman, Denver, CO; five great nieces and nephews, Kaitlin (Jamie Kirkland) Herman, Appleton; Kiana Herman, Appleton; Maxson Forry, Appleton; Dakota (Khristina Powell) Miller, Oshkosh; Cole Miller, Pence, WI; Samantha (Zach Smith) Miller, Wausau; five great-great nieces and nephews, Zyon, Leah, Daniel, Elijah, Elsie; special cousin, Patricia (James) Dercks, Appleton; her black lab, Smokey; and numerous relatives and friends.

Upon her Heavenly arrival, Mary was lovingly reunited with her family; her father and mother; brothers, Lester and John; sisters, Loretta (Herman) and Carol; brother-in-law, Roderick Herman; nephew-in-law, Richard Miller; special friend, Carol; and many grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
