Mary Ann (Schiesser) Bailey

Mary Ann (Schiesser) Bailey, 85, of Appleton, WI was reunited Friday, October 13, 2023 in heaven with her husband of 54 years, Don G. Bailey Sr.

She was born in Hortonville, WI on March 15, 1938 to Warren and Sophie (Gawersky) Schiesser.

Mary was united in marriage to Don. G. Bailey Sr. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Appleton, WI in 1957. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who placed family over everything else and would do anything for them. Mary also enjoyed cuddling with her dogs over the years and her cat, Angel.

When Mary wasn’t spending time with her family or animals, she enjoyed working on puzzles, checking out lighthouses, collecting dolls and eating strawberries/any sweet treats that included them.

She will be deeply missed by her sons, Don Bailey Jr. of Appleton, WI and Dan (Sharon) Bailey of Neshkoro, WI; grandchildren, Danielle (Nick Brumfield) Bailey of Oshkosh, WI, Erin (Dylan) Lauder of Kaukauna, WI, Jonathan (Alicia) Bailey of Ripon, WI, and Scott (Laura) Bailey of Marion, Iowa; great-grandchildren, Austin, Brooklyn, Breyden, Jackson, Julian, Riley, Rhett and Rocky.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Don. G. Bailey Sr.; infant son, Joseph Bailey; parents, Warren and Sophie Schiesser; sisters Helen Armitage and Alice VandenHeuvel; and brother, Burt Scheisser.

Visitation for family and friends will take place Thursday, October 19, 2023 from 5 to 7 p.m. and Friday, October 20, 2023 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Valley Funeral Home, 2211 North Richmond St., Appleton, WI. A service will follow Friday's visitation at 11 a.m. at Valley Funeral Home.

Mary’s family would like to say a special thanks to the awesome staff of the Renaissance of Appleton for its wonderful care and compassion.
