Mark Dequaine, age 75, passed away on March 24th, 2025 after a brief illness with his family by his side. Mark was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin on October 29th, 1949 to Marlyn and Eda Dequaine. He spent his early years on his grandparents' farm in New Franken, Wisconsin. From there he graduated from Oshkosh West High School and served in the United States Army in the Vietnam War. Mark was married to Debra Heuer on October 23rd, 1976 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Dale, Wisconsin. Mark worked at various companies as a computer systems analyst, retiring from Kimberly Clark in 2007.
Mark enjoyed hunting and fishing—preserving memories on the lake with his son Curtis and grandson Weston. In addition to fishing and hunting, his hobbies included taxidermy and woodworking. Mark was a master of the kitchen, sharing the fruits of his labor with his children and grandchildren who came to raid the refrigerator at every visit. His specialty birthday cakes will be missed by his daughter, Stacy. While Mark and Deb enjoyed the leisurely life of retirement, they would take their annual trip to Alabama where he spent time fishing on the Gulf. They also enjoyed spending time on Upper Springstead Lake where he completed construction on their cottage. He was known to be the pillar of the neighborhood, lending a helping hand to anyone in need. Mark's tough love attitude and dry sense of humor was a large part of his character that will be greatly missed.
Mark is survived by his wife Debra; his two children Stacy and Curtis (Crystal) Dequaine; grandchildren Sienna, Adilynn, and Weston Dequaine; and great-grandchildren Marlee and Isla; sisters Bonnie Wright and Julie Vetter; and brothers Craig and Scott Dequaine; Mother-in-Law Viona Heuer; Brothers-in-Law Steve (Charlotte) Heuer and Jeff (Rhonda) Heuer; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Mark is preceded in death by his parents; step mother Bev; sisters Lori Williams and Cecil Rigolet; and Father-in-Law Dallas Heuer; and two nephews Matt Garbe and Shane Heuer.
A visitation will be held on Friday March 28th, 2025 from 5 pm to 7 pm at Valley Funeral Home, 2211 N. Richmond St., in Appleton WI.
