She was preceded in death by her parents; step-brother, Daniel Gottschalk; step-sisters: Beverly Fleming and Lyda Gottschalk; father-in-law, Ed Niec; mother-in-law, Gladys Niec; brothers-in-law: Ricky Niec, Ervin Niec, Kenneth Kahler, and Daniel (Speedo) Jansen; sisters-in-law: Rose Kahler and Christine (Kilsdonk) Niec; and special family friend, Keith Rahmlow.

Marie graduated from Freedom High School class of 1975. That year, she also married her husband, Don. She kept busy gardening, baking, cooking, canning, sewing, knitting, crocheting, cross-stitching, embroidering, helping out with the farm work as needed, and so much more.

To My Wife:

There are tears in my eyes and a deep pain in my heart.

As you begin on your journey of until “death do we part”

For forty-nine years we celebrated life.

Me as your husband, and you as my wife.

We have two kids, a girl and a boy.

Both have given us so much joy.

You were a farmer, a sewer, a knitter.

You battled with your cancer because you were no quitter.

You battled your cancer determined to show it who was the boss.

It is your family and friends, who now feel the loss.

Until we are joined again forever in eternity,

REST IN PEACE, MY BELOVED MARIE.
