Mardelle Butler, age 91, passed away on Sunday November 10, 2024, at Edenbrook Nursing Home and Rehab Center. She was born on February 7, 1933, in Appleton to the late Olin and Sylvia Bergsbaken. Mardelle graduated from Hortonville High School in 1951.
Throughout her life, she helped her parents on the farm. Mardelle and her class would go out and collect milkweed pods for the war effort which made parachutes out of them. She enjoyed working for Al and Arny Ristow at the Aristocrat on Wisconsin Avenue where she worked for three years. She then worked for Fox Valley Technical College for 25 years in food services until her retirement. Mardelle and her husband Robert loved to travel and camp, thrift shop, and go to visit with family and friends.
Our Mother was a kind sweet hearted woman who loved her children very much. She also cherished her friendship with Rita and Brad Bakke.
Mardelle is survived by her children: Colleen Bos, Scott (LouAnn Glick) Butler, Shelly (Mike) Ertl; grandchildren: Shane (Anna) Steffens, Jon (Caitlin) Bos, Robert (Jenna Schanke) Bos, Carrie Butler, Jamie Butler, Brett Butler, Crystal Butler, Shena Butler, Sarah (Clint) Gressler, Steve (Kaitlin) Swick; and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Butler; son, Chris Butler; daughter, Julie VanDenzen; grandson, Owen Steffens; brother, Roland Bergsbaken; son-in-law, Peter Bos; sister-in-law, Florence Butler.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, November 15, 2024, at Valley Funeral Home, 2211 N Richmond Street, Appleton. Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Friday from 12:00 pm until the time of service. Entombment will take place at Highland Memorial Park.
