Lynn Benn Obituary

Lynn Benn, aged 64, passed away unexpectedly on May 22, 2024.  She was born on 4/7/1960 in West Bend, Wisconsin to Janet and John Leverenz.  Lynn graduated from West Bend West High School in 1978 and received her associate degree in secretarial science from Madison Area Technical College in 1980.  She worked as a legal secretary, both in Madison and Wausau, Wisconsin.

Lynn and Bill Benn met in 1981 and were married in 1984   They resided in Wausau during Bill’s family practice residency, with Lynn working as a legal secretary, as well as working in a physician’s office and in the hospital in Wausau.

When Bill purchased Rosholt Family Practice in 1987, Lynn worked there as his transcriptionist, and then as the office manager until 2005.

Lynn and Bill’s two daughters, Rachel Benn, and Leah Bauer, and their dogs, Casey and April were the loves of her life.   Lynn was active in PTA at the girls’ elementary school and in the booster club for Stevens Point Area Senior High (SPASH) soccer.    She was a dedicated soccer and tennis mom for 16 years.   Her daughters’ teammates, and their parents, became some of her best friends, remaining so for the rest of her life.

Lynn loved working with local charities and food banks and she was passionate about sending gifts to servicemen and servicewomen stationed overseas.

Family vacations to beautiful destinations were a joy for her, and she enjoyed playing golf and tennis and spending time in the outdoors when first married.  As time progressed, she loved riding her E-bike while Bill tried to keep up on a non electric bicycle in later years.

Her church, Pathways, in Appleton, was a great source of comfort and guidance for her, watching services on her Ipad whenever she couldn’t attend in person.

Lynn was preceded in death by her brother Steve, her mother Janet, and her grandparents and her dog Casey.   She is survived by Bill, April, her father John, Steve’s wife Joan Leverenz, Rachel, Leah (Eric) Bauer, two sisters, Barbara (Wayne) Scott,  Caryn (Dave) Miller, her sisters in law Gretchen (Gordon) Renfert and Mary (Kelan) Emery, nephews Shane Leverenz, Alec Miller, Garret Scott, Austin Scott, Eric Renfert, Marc Renfert and Scott Renfert, nieces Erin (Tyler) Hudson Leverenz, Megan Leverenz and her husband Matt Bellio, Rylee Miller and Katie Emery and Cooper, Luna and Obi, the granddogs; she loved them all.
