Lorna Barber, age 93, was called to her heavenly home on Saturday, March 11, 2023 and is now reunited with her husband, Edward. She was born at home in Appleton on July 17, 1929, the daughter of Arthur and Selma (Krenke) Rubbert. She attended St. Paul Lutheran Grade School and graduated from Appleton West in 1947. On September 19, 1949, Lorna was united in marriage to her beloved husband Edward Barber, Jr. at St. Paul Lutheran Church. They were blessed with 58 years of marriage before his death in 2007. Lorna was baptized, confirmed, married and now buried by the church of her faith. She was employed as the church secretary for 10 years. Lorna was an active member of the Ladies Aid and a member of their Past Presidents and Past Officers Clubs. The best times were spent with her children and grandchildren.
Lorna is survived by her daughter Beckie (Pastor Curt) Grube of Algoma, her three sons; James (Patty) Barber of Menasha, Richard (Sue) Barber of Appleton and Robert Barber of Appleton, her grandchildren; Paul (Jennifer) Grube of Nevada, Anna (Shane) Carr of Arizona, Jennifer (Brandon) Corcoran of LaCrosse and Jon (Michelle) Barber of Appleton. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Marjory Barber of Appleton and her three great grandchildren; Xavier, Molly and Erica.
Lorna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brother Gerhardt (Evelyn) Rubbert, her step-mother Viola Schultz Rubbert, in-laws Phyllis and Grant Jones, Betty and LeRoy Haufschildt, Bruce and Patricia Barber and Clifford Barber.
The funeral for Lorna will be at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 302 N. Morrison Street, Appleton at 11 am on Thursday, March 16, 2023 with Pastor Matthew Holtz and Pastor Curt Grube concelebrating. Friends may call at the church from 9:30 am until the time of the service. The committal will be in Riverside Cemetery, Appleton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed in Lorna’s name to St. Paul Lutheran Church or School.
