Leila Mary Becher nee Parker, 95, of Appleton, Wisconsin, died at Theda Care Hospital Trauma/Hospice care unit on May 10, 2024.
Lee was born in Appleton on March 24, 1929 to Rawley A. and Josephine A. Parker nee Nytes. Lee attended St. Therese Catholic Grade School and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Menasha, Wisconsin. After graduation, Lee worked as an executive secretary for Marathon Corporation. She married Joseph J. Becher, Jr. on June 21, 1952. Lee became a full-time homemaker and a loving mother to three children. In 1984, with children grown, she accepted a job as a shelver at the Appleton Public Library and retired in 1994. Lee was an avid mystery reader, enjoyed watching nature, and loved flower gardening.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph J. Becher, son, Thomas R. Becher, her parents: Rawley and Josephine Parker; and her brothers: John (Hazel), Richard “Dick”, and Robert “Bob” (Margie).
She is survived by her daughters: Mary Jo Isely (John P.) and Margaret A. Gompper; grandchildren: John P. Isely, III, Kathleen A. Isely, and Matthew R. Gompper. Lee is further survived by sister-in-law, Pam Parker and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be at 12:00 pm, on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at Valley Funeral Home, 2211 N Richmond Street, Appleton. Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Thursday from 11:00 am until the time of service.
