LeRoy G. “Roy” Stohlman, age 87, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2026. He was born in Nebraska on July 4, 1938, son of the late LeRoy and Alberta (Johnson) Stohlman.
Roy graduated from Appleton High School in 1954. He then attended Princeton University and graduated with an A.B., cum laude in 1960. He furthered his education and attended Harvard University Law School, graduating with a J.D. in 1963. He was licensed to practice law in Wisconsin in 1964 and became licensed in Washington DC in 1966. Roy practiced in Wisconsin for over 62 years, specializing in commercial law, litigation and general practice. He was a member of the Outagamie County Bar Association and the State Bar of Wisconsin.
Roy served his country as a member of the United States Army National Guard. He was also an accomplished golfer, bridge player, world traveler and an avid reader.
Roy is survived by his brother-in-law, Jack Gillespie. He was preceded in death by his parents, LeRoy and Alberta Stohlman; and his siblings: Shirley Gillespie and Albert Stohlman.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 20, 2026, at the Valley Funeral Home, 2211 N. Richmond Street, Appleton. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park. For online condolences, please visit www.valleyfh.com.
