Lawrence A. “Larry” Allard, age 87 of Appleton, passed away on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at St. Elizabeth Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 11, 1935 to the late Ashton and Thelma (Erickson) Allard in Appleton. He was a graduate of Appleton West High School, and on July 7, 1956, Larry married Eleanor Grapengieser. She preceded him in death on May 12, 2012.
Larry loved spending time Up North, fishing, hunting or 4-wheeling; everything at the cabin was the best time spent. He also enjoyed playing Cribbage and Sorry, going to the races, building birdhouses and he was an avid Packer fan. Larry was a caretaker for many; he took in and cared for anyone who was in need. His generosity and big heart will be missed by his family and all who knew him.
He is survived by his children; Gary (Carol) Allard, Mike (Julie) Allard, Sandy (Mark) Vandenberg and Lorrie (George) Tong, daughter in law, Angie Allard, 14 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. Larry is further survived by his brothers; Don (Sue) Allard and Brian (Shirley) Allard, brothers in law; Chuck (Karen) Grapengieser and Terry (Marge) Grapengieser, sisters in law; Sharon Grapengieser and Annette Grapengieser as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death are his parents, his wife Eleanor, son David Allard, father and mother in law, Henry (Marge) Grapengieser, brothers in law; Pete Grapengieser, Carl (Cory) Grapengieser, Tim Grapengieser and sister in law, Jean Grapengieser.
Family and friends may gather on Saturday, August 26, 2023 beginning at 12:00Noon until 2:00pm at Valley Funeral Home, 2211 N. Richmond St., Appleton with a memorial service to follow at 2:00pm.
