On October 20th, 2021, June Little, loving wife and mother of two, passed away peacefully in her home at the age of 69. June was born in Shreveport, Louisiana and always maintained her Southern identity and a bit of a Southern accent. She married Thomas Little on Leap Day 1976 and they went on to have two daughters together. June was a hard worker and had multiple careers in her life from working in the entomology lab at the University of California Riverside, to various administrative positions in higher education.
June is remembered as a gentle soul, who loved the natural world and her family. She was a believer in equality and human rights and instilled these values in her daughters. June was a natural-born pacifist, with a deep respect for all forms of life and a great curiosity about the world. A life-long proponent of education, June loved books and reading. Bookshelves often figured prominently in her home décor, and she never willingly got rid of a book unless it was to gift it to someone else. June had a special fondness for animals, caring for a series of birds, snakes, rats, mice, ferrets, dogs and numerous cats, many of which were rescues. She also loved plants and moved several houseplants cross-country with her multiple times.
June is survived by her daughter Jessica Munden, son-in-law Richard Munden, and granddaughter Samantha; her daughter Jen Little Brown, son-in-law Zack Brown, and grandson Kai; her sister-in-law Patricia Kintzing, and brother-in-law Edgar Kintzing; her brother-in-law Winfield E. Little, Jr.; her sister Pennie Deason Causey, and nephew Todd; her mother Vera Deason; her brother Richard Deason and his family; and the many friends who loved her throughout her time here. She is preceded in death by her husband Thomas W. Little (2007), and her father Rudolph Devane Deason (2021).
