June Jones, age 84, passed away on Monday, September 30, 2024 at Misty Arbor Assisted Living in Appleton. June was born on June 2, 1940 in New London, Wisconsin to the late Christy and Ethel Kalwitz. June married James Jones in 1994, but sadly, he died later that same year.
She grew up on a small farm near Stephensville, doing farm work with her dad, taking care of chickens and ducks, a few cows and a few horses. She went to a one room schoolhouse, long before there was any help for kids who struggled with reading. She did the best she could. Later she worked at Stokely Van Camp Canning Factory and then many years at Zwicker Knitting Mill in Appleton until it closed, then numerous cleaning jobs. She lived on the 4th floor of Oneida Heights for many years. After a hospital battle with covid, she moved to Misty Arbor Assisted Living in early 2022. She especially liked horses, and truly enjoyed a visit a month ago to a farm with horses. She was able to go into a horse barn in her wheelchair and pet the horses and give them treats. It was something she told everyone about. She didn’t like scary movies or movies with mean people or sad endings, she liked movies with happy endings. Her life has had a happy ending, at home in Heaven with Jesus.
She is survived and missed by her sister and brother-in-law, Dianne and James Jeske, a niece and nephew, their spouses, their children, and her old friends. She had a child-like faith and knew Jesus was always there to help her. She kept her “Jesus” blanket on her bed.
